About 7-Eleven
7-Eleven built mobile-first hygiene and safety training that fits store reality, so employees can learn without leaving the floor.
The challenge
Reitan Convenience Denmark needed a way for franchisees to train employees without paying the price in time, staffing pressure, and classroom course costs. Employee turnover is high, especially in major cities, so training has to work continuously and be available whenever a new employee starts.
At the same time, store operations make traditional training difficult. Often only one or two employees are on duty, and pulling people off the floor for a full day course is rarely realistic. The goal was therefore clear: keep training available around the clock, but make it engaging enough that employees actually want to complete it.
“The employee turnover is high, especially in the major cities, so we needed to find a solution that is available 24/7, while at the same time offer the employees interaction without full day courses.”

The solution
7-Eleven created digital learning games for hygiene and safety. The aim was to replace slow, uninspiring e-learning with a format that drives focus and interaction, while still being easy to access in a busy retail environment. Employees can complete training on their phones, whenever store operations allow it.
One of the learning games is built around a story-driven hygiene universe where employees apply knowledge in practical situations. Along the way, players solve tasks such as spotting errors in pest control, handling food-poisoned customers, and learning how to use the self-monitoring folder. This makes training feel closer to real store work, and helps franchisees deliver consistent standards without relying on full-day courses.

The results
With interactive learning games, 7-Eleven can train employees in the right hygiene and safety routines in a way that fits the reality of store work. Training is always available, which matters when turnover is high and new hires need to get ready fast.
For franchisees, the impact is less time spent coordinating courses and less cost tied to pulling employees away from the floor. For employees, training becomes easier to complete and easier to remember because it is practical, interactive, and built for a young target group. The result is a more consistent baseline across stores, without adding complexity to daily operations.
